Baby J’s mom contacted me in response to a maternity model call. You may notice these are new baby photographs and not maternity ones. Poor mom sent me a message and not an hour later sent me a new one saying her doctor didn’t think she would make it to a photoshoot. Her doctor was right Sweet Baby Boy J was born the next day!

Ok enough jabbering about maternity photos and let’s talk about this sweet new baby. Isn’t he just precious? He loved being swaddled, he was happy to be in his birthday suit and he had no problem being moved to the bowl either. Saying he was chill little man would be an understatement.
And what about the wall collection I created for them? Don’t you just love it? That’s not their home of course. But I can create and show artwork on the walls in your home. Thanks to some pretty fancy software I can create mockups of your sweet new baby’s artwork on the walls in your home true to size. This makes your decision making process so much easier. No more trying to visualize what a canvas or framed portrait will look like in your living room. I can show you exactly how it will look. isn’t that amazing?

Oh man I just love simple classic black and white portraits like these. I could create stunning classic studio pregnancy portraits like these every single day. They never go out of style. They flatter all pregnancy shapes and sizes. And they are all about the relationship between mom and her unborn baby. No props no clutter no fuss. Just beautiful light and a beautiful momma to be.
I am still in awe every single time a pregnant woman walks in my studio. She is growing a person in her own body. That is an amazing, wondrous accomplishment I will never fully understand. Moms amaze me everyday they create, carry and bring into this world a new life.

I’m going to say heck yes. I absolutely love when clients send me fun none traditional ideas. Don’t get me wrong the classic portraits are awesome. But lets be real motherhood is hard, pregnancy with a toddler at home is hard. So why not have fun showing what life is like with both those life stages at home. How much fun are these images?

Momma E came in to model this cream dress for our studio look book. The dress photographed like a dream. Momma E wore it well. Don’t you all think she looks amazing? I love how it shows off her baby bump but is not too revealing. Leave her some love in the comments on these dreamy maternity portraits!
Some moms to be don’t want to show a lot of skin and this is a great way to celebrate your pregnancy without feeling exposed. Adding on a wrap or shawl could give you even more coverage if desired. This dress would also make a great post delivery momma and baby portrait.
Hopefully we can try it out when this little guy arrives this summer. Your family can’t wait to meet you little one! I look forward to meeting you when you visit the studio for your newborn portrait session. Thanks again Momma E for coming in and modeling my dresses I really appreciate it.
Oh My Goodness, I totally loved this session. I mean I knew I would since I would get to catch up with a good friend from college. And get to see her newborn baby girl before any one else! One of the perks of being a newborn photographer, even in the winter I get to see all the babies first. But that is not why it will go down as one of my favorite portrait sessions from this year.
Why then you ask was I so stoked to photograph this adorable little one? Her mom brought in props. And not just any props. She brought in her wedding veil. Wedding veils are gorgeous of course and this one was no exception. But why was I hyperventilating over a veil. Because my friends props with meaning are the way to my heart strings. Your sweet innocent baby girl photographed on her momma’s wedding veil is going to become a treasured keepsake portrait for generations to come. It will mean just as much to this little girl in 30 years as it does to her momma right now.
As a memory keeper this kind of portrait makes my heart skip a beat. Knowing that she has an actual print of her favorite portrait of her baby in her wedding veil just makes my year. Knowing that print will last for 100 years and be viewed and shared with family. This my friends is why I encourage everyone to print their memories. Digital file storage devices have a shelf life of maybe 8 years before the device can corrupt or fail. Prints last a life time. Print your memories or come see me and let me create printed portrait memories for your family.
How have I not blogged this session already. Man I am behind, but today the boys are at summer camp and I’m playing catch up. This beautiful family came to see me while they were waiting for their darling baby girl to arrive. Mom had a few ideas for the baby announcement and dear son had a few ideas of his own so we went with it. What you cannot see in these images are the basketballs and fire trucks he wanted in every photograph. Sweet toddlers are very determined when it comes to sports they love and super heroes they idealize.
Back to the portraits
This sweet family came prepared for an outdoor and indoor sessions the studio and even brought the awesome fire truck. The fire truck was so cool with a working bell and everything. I will not lie I kind of wanted to keep it ;) But my favorite images are the ones I think they will forever treasure. The intimate black and whites portraits that capture that connection between mom and son are just beautiful. The portrait that shows the family waiting and preparing for a new addition are heartwarming. Those are the images that make my heart sing. These pregnancy portraits are the ones that the kids will look at as teenagers and think my mom and dad wanted me so badly you can see it here. My parents love me more than life itself. The beauty of a family waiting for baby gosh I tell you I love this job!
When I first found out this gorgeous family was moving away I was sad and very surprised. They had a sweet baby boy and they were moving so far away. You know I get kind of attached to my tiny babies. Something about holding a newborn when they are only a few days old makes you want to protect them and watch them grow. Then when I found out he was having a little sister so very far away I was down right depressed. Momma was a stunner with her first pregnancy. Fast forward a short time and I get a phone call out of the blue. This beautiful family is moving back. And the first thing mom did after landing back in the area was call me for a family portrait session.
I am honored and humbled to be the first call and to be chosen as their family photographer! I was so excited to catch up with them and meet their sweet baby girl. And that precious baby boy has grown into a handsome little guy who loves cars, tractors, throwing rocks and playing bashful.
We had a great outdoor portrait session.
Below are a few ideas for wall collections I created for their inspiration gallery. The family image in that simple cream frame is just classic. “Your family is a work of art. Frame it!” Which option from these genuine family portraits speaks to you?
I met the sweet G family after they entered and won our silent auction raffle for a family session from their son’s school fundraiser. I love to do school fundraisers for two reasons. The number one reason I love school fundraisers is education, education, and of course education. Growing up in North Carolina I know how hard our teachers worked to stretch every penny. Our hard working teachers always appreciate any extra income for our public schools. The second reason I love school fundraisers is because it gives me the chance to meet new families I might not ordinarily meet. I love to meet new people and hear their stories.
Turns out both the G family and our family are fairly new to the Fort Mill, SC area. We also both have boys in kindergarten. It was great connecting with another family going through similar experiences as we are now.
The G family tries to have fall family portraits taken every year. I was really excited to show them all South Carolina has to offer in outdoor fall backdrops. We chose to meet at Windjammer Park in Tega Cay, SC for our fall family portrait session. This location gives the opportunity to use the lake, the sandy beach, the wooded areas with gorgeous fall leaves and beautiful rolling grassy hills. Windjammer was the perfect location to show off South Carolina to the G family. Here are just a few of my favorite images from this session. We got some great fall family portraits for their walls don’t you think? I can’t wait to work with the sweet G family again next fall.
