Expecting a baby in Charlotte, Fort Mill, or the surrounding area? This is usually the part of the process where most photographers hand you a camera-ready checklist and ask you to figure out the rest. Wardrobe, props, files, prints, frames, where to hang them — all of it your project.
That's not how we work.
The Newborn Legacy Session is designed around one principle: you should not be doing logistics in your first weeks postpartum. We handle the wardrobe before baby arrives. We design the artwork. We deliver and install the finished pieces. Your only job is to recover and meet your baby.
Twenty years and thousands of newborns later, I've built a four-step process that takes the project off your plate and delivers heirloom artwork already hanging in your home — usually before the maternity-leave fog has lifted.
Before your baby arrives we meet -in studio or by video whatever fits your schedule and talk though your vision. We want your portraits to live in the home you're in and the ones you’ll move into next. The studio's wardrobe collection covers newborns and moms, so you don't shop for anything. You don't pin anything. You don't decide alone.
1.
The day of the session, you bring three things: the baby, a few diapers, and a bottle if you're not nursing. That's it. (Nursing moms — no need to pump and pack ahead. You and baby together is what we work around.) The studio is warmed, the wardrobe is hung, the wraps, props, and backdrops are staged. We work entirely around your baby's rhythm — feeds, naps, fusses, all of it. Most parents leave feeling calmer than they expected to.
2.
A week or two after your session, you return to the studio to see your final images and finalize your collection. This is the part most parents dread elsewhere — sorting through hundreds of files alone, trying to figure out what to do with them. We don't do it that way. We curate. We show your images at the size they'll live on your walls. We help you choose pieces that match the rooms in your home now and will look beautiful displayed for years to come.
Most families invest between $2,500 and $5,000 in finished heirloom artwork — professionally printed, framed, and mounted by a master printer, archivally finished to last generations.
3.
Hanging artwork is not what you should be doing in your baby's first months. So we don't ask you to. When your finished pieces are ready, we bring them to your home and install them ourselves — level, secure, perfectly aligned, in the rooms we planned for from the very beginning. The first time you see your finished newborn artwork is on your own walls, where it belongs. Not in a box on the doorstep. Not propped against a closet wall waiting for "someday."
This is the part most photographers in Charlotte don't offer. It's also the part past clients tell their friends about.

Alicia is amazing!! The entire experience with Alicia was easy, fun, and pure bliss!! She is professional, patient, prompt, and has an eye for getting the best shot! We worked with her for maternity and newborn pictures.
My husband and I were worried that our daughter would be fussy or not corporate during the photo shoot, but with Alicia's baby skills, our daughter was a complete angel! She was so patient and took great care of our daughter and our 2 year old son. My son only wanted to play basketball during the photo shoot and Alicia used that to her advantage. She was able to capture his smile and sweet sibling pictures as well as family pictures by playing basketball with him while taking pictures!!
After taking time to edit the pictures, she came to my house to show them to me in person. The quality of her work is superb!!! We have amazing pictures that we will cherish for forever!
My experience with Alicia Insely Smith has been AMAZING and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for family, maternity, and newborn pictures!!
